30th March

Put the washing on in a machine with a mind of its own a bit like Arkwight’s till. Whilst we were showering the wind got up again which meant the bed linen was dry within an hour. We decided to walk to town, Portonovo, which is a couple of miles away – nice little place. Result – we’d forgotten the shops all close for siesta haha! Only a couple of bars & a restaurant were open with loads shut for the winter season. This place & area is where the Spanish come to holiday apparently, some of whom are very rich judging by the marina.

We witnessed a major near miss on a roundabout & learnt some new words... Bought some grapes the size of walnuts & clementine oranges which tasted lovely from a supermercado we found open.

By now the wind was really blowing a hooligan which helped us walk up the long hill back to Billy. Tomorrow we’ll walk round the bays & see what’s what. We’d better not find shells like the ones Cathy bought....

Later on we could see a storm in the distance ..then it hit with associated squalls & near horizontal heavy rain which lasted for ages. Not long before sunset when the storm had cleared, we had a rain shower & the sun was shining just above the horizon – yes, an enormous clear double rainbow that ended on the beach behind Billy. Buying a spade tomorrow.
