New friends, Barbara & David – we met them in Camarinas and then they went south – surprisingly we met them again in LaCoruna when they were on their way back north – we have been here a long time!

As you can see the displays were well laid out and beautifully done. It was a surprise what a small museum has in their collection.

When walking to the festival we got a chance to see a few of the floats they would be using in the parade.

When walking through the Maria Pita Plaza we could see they had set up for some activities for the festival here as well.

It was fortunate the wind was down enough to allow for the fireworks & bonfires, but as you can see the waves were still rolling in.

It was nice that we could be spectators and look down at the crowds on the beach.

We kept wondering if the crowds would leave the beach when the fires were lit, but that wasn't necessary.

The streets were closed for the crowds at the festival.

Many of the bands include people of all ages which is nice to see as well.

They had numerous floats with beautiful girls waving and throwing candy to the spectators – some things are common everywhere.

As you can see the crowds were large and the bonfire piles were numerous – we were glad to have been here to see it.

This bonfire was also being used as a political protest of financial wrongdoing by the Spanish government with photos of the parties involved.

The bonfires were everywhere – quite impressive to see.

The fireworks were spectacular – unfortunately it was difficult to get photos as the light from the bonfires nearby were so bright.

The paper lanterns that were set off were quite a sight to see.

The witch was burned after midnight which is to ward off evil and bring good luck.
