Saturday Mercado wow !! Saturday Mercado wow !! Saturday Mercado wow !!

We saw everything you could eat , if you dared and some that were just walking around and now freshly carved into pieces right in front of my inquisitive eyes! Yikes and wow say it all !
Today was a busy day with so much going on and so much to see. We went out after breakfast to find the market in town. There was a festive feeling in the air as we could hear music. People were walking in all directions with their shopping in bags.

As we both forgot to pack swimsuits we made a stop into a sporting store to find one for both of us. Success! Then onward to see more of this interesting town.

We just kept walking until we came to the Mercado Central (Central Market) where we saw all sorts of interesting stuff for sale - lots of fish, lobster, squid, ? octopus and all manner of veggies and meat. Many pork ? legs hanging up and ready for a slice to be sold. All of a sudden a small band struck up a tune and things were loud and festive. Saturday Market at its best! So much fun to experience and see.

Every afternoon during the warmer summer weather there is siesta time (usually from 2:30 to about 5:00). Things get quiet in town and people relax out of the heat of the day. We too, were

a bit weary from the heat and had our own siesta back at the hotel. A nice breather from the warm day.

As evening arrived, we ventured out once again and as we walked encountered a group of people carrying a dragon head. On their way to the town square where a band was playing. There were children and families all enjoying the lively music of a local live band and some were dancing. There were a number of dragon mobile sculptures in the square. We were uncertain what was being celebrated but there was a definite festive mood among the crowd. Colourful Confetti was scattered on the floor where children ran and played. Good fun!

Time to search out some dinner which we found along the Ramblas Principal which was very crowded with with Saturday night strollers and families. After our meal there were a lot of people who were walking in one direction towards a large park. We followed the crowd and discovered a large open air concert and festival taking place. Many food vendors with all manner of food - sushi, Thai noodles, grilled meats, beer, crepes, etc. The band was terrific and we stayed

and enjoyed the music for about an hour and a half. Once the music ended we moseyed back to our little hotel for a night's sleep. A busy and fun day.

Catching up the Roving Stones
Hi Guys: Just spent a quiet evening here catching up on your travels through Switzerland/France and now Spain. Enjoying your pics and commentary, glad you're keeping the blog up you'll appreciate the record when you look back on it. Definitely summer in the city, quite muggy unsettled weather here at the moment. You probably know from Face Book that Anne I were away in Huntsville for a week was restful although we provided excellent dining for mosquitos and black flies at the Nimmons cottage the bugswere brutal. This is definitely the year of the insect. Assuming it's has a lot to do with the rain!. Another victim is our poor cherry tree which had a major infestation of aphids and wiped out the cherries for the 2nd year. But enough of our tale of woe. We otherwise are well here, keep up the blogging and photos. xo Alan
