THE Old BULL ARENA
Now turned into shops Docked in Barcelona 9.00a.m. and walked 2.5km to the centre of city - then jumped on a bus to see a lot of the sites around Barcelona, also walked 10km when we weren't on the bus. Barcelona is a beautiful city - great long boulevards with lots of trees (had my first dose of hay fever today) and also little alleys full of fantastic buildings but from the dock it just gradually goes up into the hills. The Olympic Stadium sits atop a hill and also the Barcelona Football Stadium. Everyone raves on about Gaudi (the famous architect), he draws thousands of people to all his buildings, statues and mosaics - but we have to say they didn't do much for us! Went to the La Sagrada Familia - the most famous building - the most ugly looking church I have ever seen - and it was half covered up with netting and cranes all around - don't think its ever been finished, due to finish in 2026 after being started years ago - each to their own! Met Bill and Marj for lunch at a lovely little tapas place and had a pignout on some yummy Jamon and a variety
PRODUCE MARKET
Amazing to wander through of meats, breads, asparagus, calamari and fish and of course some spanish wine and beer! Then wandered down the main boulevard La Ramblas and soaked up the atmosphere of a lovely sunny day in Barcelona. Day at Sea tomorrow and then into Cadiz in Spain.
