In Spain!In Spain!In Spain!

The other side of the mountain range.
Hi everyone. We have made it to Spain and the weather is glorious. What a diference from one side of the Pyrenees to the other. After staying the night at a ski resort town called Ax-le-Thermes, in which there were hot springs but none at the camping ground, and they could have done with tapping into them to warm up their showers, we left there following dorothys instructions, heading up the mountain on a switchback, sometimes one laned road, only to get about 7 kms up to a sign saying the road was closed. Dean was all for taking the risk and going there anyway but I put the handbrake on that idea and we went back down and I took control of the map and direction finding and sent us through a very long tunnel under the mountains. From a misty grey, drizzly and cold north side we emerged through the other side into dazzling sunshine and snow covered mountains. It was a sight to behold. We have avioded toll roads so far on this trip, but there seemed to be no avoiding them this day, and to be honest, it did make driving and finding your way a little

A very out of the way camping ground in Spain, but very beautiful
bit easier. Plus you cant go anywhere else when you turn down a road and dorothy says, turn left and there a concrete barrier in the way! Toll road it is then!!!Our first night in Spain we stayed at another out of the way camping ground, in a national park in the middle of nowhere! Very quiet and peaceful it was but also very well equiped. Then yesterday it was off to Barcelona, using toll roads again and thankfully avoiding peak hour traffic. It was bad enough at 1pm when we drove through. We managed to find the camping ground with a little bit of difficulty...damn McDonalds when their free wifi doesnt work and I couldnt get them to understand what was wrong! But we got there anyway and its a spot right on the mediteranian sea. It is gorgeous. Today we have spent an amazing day in Barcelona. The architecture here is quite unique and it is once more a very busy and bustling city. We managed the bus trip in and out no dramas and there was just enough sunlight left for Dean to run in and out of the sea just to prove he had done it.

Enjoying the Spanish sunshine in Barcelona
Its a bit too bloody cold for me just yet. We sat in the sun in the city of Barcelona eating tapas and drinking beer. Life is fantastic! Anyway, its back into France tomorrow, heading towards Italy, although it may take us a week to get there. Love to all.xxx
