On March 22nd we flew from Dublin to the Girona airport in Spain. Luckily we were able to catch a bus into Barcelona quicker than expected and got to Scott and Barbs around 11:30pm. On Friday while they were at school we walked to the Sagrada Familia and the beach. Despite being under construction for the past 120 years and still a long ways from being finished, the Sagrada Familia is the largest and most popular attraction in Barcelona. That evening after Scott got back from coaching soccer we went to a chicken place for dinner. On Saturday the four of us did tons of sightseeing, Scott and Barb were GREAT tour guides! We had tapas (Spanish appetizers) for dinner at a great restaurant and then hung out at their flat. On Sunday we went to church and watched Scott and Barb perform in the gospel choir, saw a couple more sights and had fajitas at home. The weather and company was wonderful so we were sad to leave on Monday but we’re now hoping to visit them in Taipei, Taiwan next year 😊

Next we were off to Mallorca, a Spanish island off the coast. Unfortunately the weather was not as nice as we had hoped for . . . but we were able to rent a moped and see some of the beautiful mountains and scenery. On the 29th we headed home to meet Mom, Dad and Courtney in Leeds.

It's amazing that millions of people come to visit this church that has been under construction since the late 1800's and still isn't even close to being done! They claim it will be finished around 2026 but I don't believe it :)

Andrew and I toured La Pedrera, an apartment building designed by Gaudi. The funny shapes on the top of the roof are actually chimnies!

In the tour we were able to walk around on the roof and see the chimnies up-close. These chimnies are said to have inspired George Lucas when he created the helmets for the troopers in Star Wars.

Since it wasn't nice enough to sit on the beach we rented a scooter for the day to take around the island. This is from the northern, more mountainous side of the island.
