1. Child-Friendly Sunshine Paradise
Tenerife is already famous for being an excellent place to spend your holidays together with your family. It's clear just by looking at the many promotions of the island, that it excels when it comes to catering for families with children and goes above and beyond in this area.
Since Tenerife is so popular amongst families, the island makes efforts to position itself as child-friendly as possible. Most hotels on the island go out of their way to cater to children's needs by offering visitors a plethora of amenities such as children's clubs, kids' swimming pools, child-friendly menus in most eateries, and many animation programmes.
Some of them go as far as to offering crèches to ensure the little ones are properly taken care of whilst their parents chill out by the pool.
Very few holiday destinations can beat Tenerife when it comes to family-friendly attractions and entertainment opportunities. The many Blue Flag beaches, along with the popular water parks at Siam and Aqualand, zoos and boat trips, as well as the well-known Loro Parque, are all suitable for families with children of all ages.
Even the cafes, bars
and restaurants in Tenerife cater for children by offering them alcohol-free cocktails; free colouring books and crayons, as well as various entertainment facilities such as clowns, fairies, and magicians.
The island is just simply special for family holidays and families return year after year just to prove that it's great.
I found Tenerife to be one of the best holiday places to go with children and it's even more magical when experiencing a
Tenerife Christmas .
2. Spa Treats in Paradise
I was in awe with the huge number of hotels throughout the island which offer full fitness facilities, wellness centres, state-of-the-art spas, and a wide array of beauty therapies. Almost all of the five-star hotels I visited had a spa area. Many of the four-star venues had them as well. I attempted to use some of these hotel spas and I discovered that you don't need to be their guest to use their facilities. There is an entrance fee for non-guests, but it is fairly inexpensive and well worth it.
Apart from the hotel spas, there are also stand-alone spas in Tenerife. These facilities are available to tourists and residents alike. My favourite by far was the Aqua Club Termal in Torviscas, which is also one of the most popular spas in southern Tenerife. The giant thermal circuit, the various massage options, and the oxygen bar makes this club a must-try for all spa lovers.
3. Outdoor Adventure Holiday
As much as I love spending my holidays relaxing at the beach or just chilling out by the pool, I also feel the need for some adventure. During my visit to Tenerife I discovered a wide range of outdoor activities to add to my bucket list, almost all of which suit visitors of any age. Tenerife is a paradise of sign-posted hiking, walking, and cycling trails of various difficulty levels. There are light two-hour walks along the coast, but some can touch eight hours, like the trek through Teide National Park. Many of these trails pass by campsites where you can relax and have some food or some refreshments.
Almost all Tenerife beaches offer a wealth of water sports. I was keen on trying a bit of surfing, so I visited El Medano. This beach is usually windy, which makes it perfect for windsurfing, surfing, kite surfing and body boarding. Even if you don't want to have a go at water sports, you can still have great fun watching others ride the waves.

4. Excellent Golfing Retreat
The nine golf courses in Tenerife attract all types of players, both amateur and professional. They travel from all over the world to enjoy the breath-taking scenery and the awesome design of these golf courses. I don't usually play golf, but I'm always keen on trying new things. I gave it a shot on the golf course in Golf del Sur, one of the holiday resorts designed for golfers. As I played during late afternoon, I had the pleasure to watch a stunning sunset that painted everything in lovely hues of amber, pink and red.
Many of the golf courses on the island neighbour hotels, enabling avid golfers to get accommodation very close to the course. Should you intend to go for a golfing holiday, I strongly suggest that you do some in-depth research beforehand. You may be able to find some special deals and discounts on your green fees too.
5. Perfect Romantic Escape
Tenerife is more than a popular destination for families with children; it is also a perfect choice for couples in search of a romantic holiday. The soft beaches and the huge palm trees, as well as the classy Balinese beds scattered all over the sand make this island a great place to enjoy the company of your partner whilst getting a tan and sipping on colourful and refreshing cocktails.
You might want to take a closer look at the modern El Duque area, with its adult-only hotels, where you can indulge in the company of each other without worrying about playful or noisy kids in the vicinity.
There's no better place in the world to let yourself get carried away in romantic evening meals, with stunning sunsets and the sound of the ocean luring you to another world. Whatever your mood, you'll surely find the right restaurant to suit your culinary preferences and your need for romance.
A good place for information is
Tenerife Forum , with its very large community of both visitors and residents of the island.
And if you're looking to make the island your home, we recommend
Delmar for all your Tenerife property needs.
