Live Music
Santa Cruz de la Palma Hello my fellow travelers!
This is the fifth of six posts I'll make about a trip to the Canary Islands, Morocco and Madeira in 2004 together with my parents and my Uncle Anders. The last post covered my brief visit to Madeira and this one covers my time in La Palma.
By the time we reached La Palma the winter flu had finally released it's grip on me, I was still a bit weak but at least the worst was over, but our travel party was not spared, it had just moved over to my mother instead. As a result she missed La Palma and is therefore absent from all photos from this day.
Me, my father and Anders however set out to explore Santa Cruz de la Palma which is the local capital of the island. The most noticeable attraction to me was the replica of Columbus ship
Santa Maria which is part of the La Palma Maritime Museum. We didn't go inside for both a lack of time and energy.
There was also a live music show on the street that we stayed and watched. All in all Santa Cruz de la Palma was a
nice stop even though I was a bit to worn to really enjoy it fully at the time. The city is very beautiful though with it's white facades, wooden balconies and floral arrangements. I would like to visit again someday with a better constitution.
Back on the ship the second midnight gala dinner of the trip was being served, but with my mother down, me weak and Anders starting to feel the early symptoms we quickly withdrew from the festivities.
Our next and final stop of the trip was at Gran Canaria, we were all pretty weak by then but at least we could all go ashore there, but more about that in the next post.
The next post will cover my time in Gran Canaria and until then I wish you all peace and happy travels!
