See text in English below 17-18 junio 2011 La mañana se levantó cubierta, pero no caía ni gota. Tuve suerte, pues en todo el día no llovió. El objetivo del día era llegar a Vitoria, pasando por algunos pueblos de la Rioja alavesa y subiendo el puerto de Herrera en la sierra de Cantabria. Al primer pueblo al que llegué tras dejar Haro fue Labastida, ya en la provincia de Álava. Está justo a los pies del Toloño, uno de los montes más emblemáticos de la sierra que divide la llanada del Ebro del resto de Álava y el País Vasco. El pueblo tuvo un pasado guerrero, pues fue en la época medival ésta una zona de fricciones entre musulmanes, navarros y castellanos. Day 453 We left dressed to impress for our 6.45am bus to Pamplona for the famous Running of the Bulls. Before long we realised we definitely weren't going to make the run as our bus detoured to every town, village and gypsy stop between Vitoria and Pamplona. We arrived just after 8.30am as the hoards of people returned to the station covered head to toe in Sangria. Disappointed we set about finding a way to get to the run on time the next day, and taxi was the only way. 120 Euro's later and taxi organised we walked to the Bull ring and purchased our tickets for that evenings Bull Fight. First and foremost: I know that a lot of the names in this blog will not be entirely correct, either in spelling or i just made them up (hah-i´ll put a star next to those ones). Many people with extremely bizarre names were involved in teh spanish portion of my january! Here goes.. Part one of my spanish adventure was spent in madrid... a week frequenting La Bodega ("bodegita") with mayans, patri, and all their school friends. It was a suprise when we got free tapas with the beer, even more of a suprise when we left at 2 or 3 and THEN went out to the clubs.
