hey dude! whats in your hands?!
this was at our campground near Ronda Our friend Tara came to visit us in Spain (from Germany) with her son & hubby. They showed up on Thanskgiving morning, we ate a quick meal and headed out. We drove east until night fell, then found a camp ground and crashed for the night. The next morning we strolled around Ronda (pronounced with a long Oh sound), checked out the deep ravine, the more than 200 year old Puente Nuevo that spans across it, and just did some random wanderings around town. Then we decided to drive along the Costa del Sol (Sun Coast) in hopes of finding a small quaint town, fishing village, semi-remote camp spot. Instead all we found were miles and miles of high rise resorts, condos & houses. You see, this is a vacationers' spot so there's lots of expats and Spaniards alike living here in vacation homes or just visiting. We have nothing against this type of environment but it's not what we were looking for on this trip. Before the sun dipped down, we found a campground that was packed full of RVs, threw down our tents and retired early. The next morning we decided to head to one of the most beautiful

on the road along the Costa del Sol places we had seen in Spain thus far--Cabo de Gata-Nijar National Park. We had been there already earlier in the year and decided to share this place with our friends. They were instantly in love! We stayed at the same campgrounds we stayed at before and spent the rest of the night at a secluded beach, perched beneath a cliff face to block the wind, and consumed cheese, crackers & wine under a black & diamond sky. The next morning we explored the coastline and then bid ado to our friends, who stayed behind a few more days before heading back to Germany. On our way home we briefly stopped in Guadix where cave houses dot the mountain side. It looks like a scene out of Star Wars.
