Walked a bit in Jerez de la Frontera. Not really exciting town but first time to visit so all is new.
In my early previous life I bought sherry and since my mainsupplier had his bodega in Puerto de Santa Maria I never took the opportunity to see Jerez where the most bodega s are like Sandeman, Gonzales Byas, Harvey and so on
About the cathedral of Jerez you can say 1 thing. It s huge.
In the mainstreet there are as in the other streets lots of banks probably waiting to be rationalized by the crisis.
There are still a lot of pappa-mamma shops who would not survive in the northern countries of Europe, But it looks nice and a pity that they will disappear slowly slowly.
Had a late dinner on the main marketsquare and ordered among other things a veal entrecote.
The discussion with the waiter was untill what age you can call a calf a calf and the meat veal. In his opinion it depends on the cook who is buying the meat. He explained that sometimes very old veal was cheaper.
The veal he served looked and tasted like cowmeat of a cow
that died after a very long life.
The waiter said yes that sometimes happens

Dear Bert, you know "shit" happens. And about the veal it was just a cow and the cook called him calf because it was mentioned on the menu! Are you visiting your "old" Dear Bert. You know "shit" happens. And the very old cow transformed in a calf was a special trick of the cook, because vael was said on the menu! Are you visiting your old sherry supplier?
