Up above the clouds..
Andy has a good view of this too Now I’m back… This is from (Feb 13th-17th)
The flight back was shorter than the one on the way home, literally and physically draining wise. I am feeling healthier now maybe Spain’s warm weather is helping to cure my throat infection. It gets cooler out at night like 45-50 degrees and is about 65-70 average during the day.
The first day I got back I just slept a bunch and got ready for the next day of class on Thursday. The day went pretty well but became a little hard to handle when I felt overwhelmed and like I needed a little break to think and let my emotions out. That happens quite often… My teachers tell me “tranquila, tranquila” (calm, calm) so they are being understanding and helpful with what I will need. It is going to be kind of hard to catch up and get notes but I can pull it off.
Since we don’t normally have class on Friday we went to “Jerez de la frontera” which has one of the oldest wineries. We were able to see how the wine here is made smell so many aromas and see their brandy branch as
WOW
took this from the plane window :) well. A lot of work and years go into the process. After the winery tour and tasting we walked to a zoo and some of the group went in including me! It was very cool and worth to see contrary to some people’s thoughts! The animals were up close and personal. We could stand up on the railings and high five the monkeys (I just took the picture) also the camels were in reach and the giraffe was about 2 feet directly above our heads and even shared some of it’s slobber with a girl (only got on her coat though). We also saw turtles having a “fun time” (use your imagination). A highlight was feeding the elephant some meat and watching him eat. One of our leaders from the Institute was looking up train times to go back to Sevilla (hour n 15 minutes) and his ticket fell out of his papers underneath the railing by the elephant… I said “hey your ticket!” he goes “really?” as the elephant starts sucking up the ticket as proceeds to eat it! Not a cheap lunch for him 12.50 Euro!!!!! OUCH!
When we got home to Sevilla we took a nap
Madrid
Picture from in the airport, im sure ill go back and get some more, but i like the cross then got ready to go out with some guys from the program and a friend of Liz’s from LAX who is studying in Barcelona to eat and ended up not eating until 1230 pm. I had a tropical cocktail with shrimp and lettuce and little crab pieces with a creamy sort of mayo sauce some green olives FINALLY and a tuna sandwich for a certain brother of mine, I hope he got to taste it too!
On that subject, I guess it’s good that I am here to get over my fears and try to deal with my grief. It forces me to still do things and go out and shows me that some people really do care and understand that it is going to be very hard. I’ll miss him and not want to believe what happened no matter where I am…
It is hard to be in this beautiful city and no be able to express in words everything that it is. What I mean is that it would be awesome if everyone could wiggle their noses and come to Spain for a weekend or week so I could share what I do daily because this
is only a small piece.
Today we went to the Plaza de Espana which has a beautiful crescent shaped building with tiles for each province in Spain and a great fountain in front of it. It also is surrounded by moat that was not filled with water because it is “winter” here! We walked through a park of Maria Luisa which was as well breathtaking with willow trees to palm trees and statues. We are going for dinner and I am going to get a burrito!
Later... Dinner was good, a little reminder of home, tasted a little different but GOOD! then we went home and both were pretty tired so hit the sheets.
Sunday we went to church at the end of the block and it was very cool! The rest of the day I had time to myself, just thought about things and reminsced which both are hard but good to do!
Ok until later!
