7 Days and Counting Currently we are at home, eagerly counting the days to the next leg of our 'See the World While You Can Tour'. Wishing we were 40 years younger but probably appreciating it more than some of the really nice kids we have met on our travels so far, we have embarked on a plan to have a 'Gap Year' and back pack around some parts of the globe that we have always wanted to see. Sooo...., this 'Gap Year for Geriatrics' is broken down into 6-8 week blocks after which we return home to our beautiful home in Spain and our pampered pooch, Ollie 'the West Highland White Hound From Hell', for R & R and planning time for the next leg. Sunday 5th March Set off from Nackenheim on a beautiful sunny morning, no sign of any more snow. Good progress to Saarbrucken and across to Metz, snow everywhere. Stopped south of Metz for a snack but the resto had no frites left ! Carried on towards Dijon, not very exciting landscape but still snow-covered. Left motorway at Nuits-St-Georges, town centre still had lots of snow. Very attractive but slow route through famous vineyards to Beaune. From Beaune took Chagny road but missed Chagny. Had to do two sides of a triangle to get back on track. Finally rejoined the Montceau-les-Mines road which followed the canal with lots of snow ... read more
