Today JC and I took a day trip from Vienna to Bratislava, Slovakia. We had a late night last night, so we didn't arrive there until about midday, but still had plenty of time to see what we have officially decided is the most boring city in the world.... or at least in the parts of the world we have seen so far!

When we arrived, we walked the 2kms from the train station to the castle, only to find out that the castle is open everyday EXCEPT MONDAYS... just our luck of course! I have a great photo of JC standing in the very empty and forlorn looking courtyard with the most bored expression on her face... I'll post it when I get home for all to see. So, we wandered down the hill, took some photos, and then found our way through the old part of the city to a Chinese restaurant. (In case you're wondering why we went chinese when we are in Eastern Europe, Ljubljana is lacking in Asian food restaurants and we have both been craving it since we left Canada and Bratislava had a lot of them so we went...). So, we got there on a Monday...
little authentic place, and it was nice to get away from the little streets in Bratislava, which, while they are quaint, also generally consist of midly expensive restaurants, very expensive shops (Gucci, Prada etc), and the odd little galery. Not to much in the way of cultural stuff going on...

After dinner we decided it was time to return home. While I'm sure there is more to do and see in Bratislava, it just wasn't for us...

Tomorrow we get up bright and early and head back to Ljubljana, which while I am sad to be leaving Vienna, it will be nice to get back (and yes, to do some studying Aunty Nance!)

Love you all,

Mel.
