Hi 9.30PM
Have had tea so am feeling more alive.
Breakfast this morning then could not make up my mind as to what to do s the weather forecast was for rain, but decided to go out anyway...was not too bad but very cloudy.
Walked and caught the ferry from Belem to Porto Branwka over three Rio Tejo .Cost two Euro each way and took about five minutes... about eight going over plus a motorbike and about twenty coming off and five cars.
Did not have a map but knew I wanted to visit the statue Cristo Rei. So knew I had to keep the water to my left..... so up the hill and found a old traditional church which was open... not always the case.... then found a local fish and vegetables market. With other stalls as well.... cheese, pastry plus socks and second hand stuff, etc..
More a modern area with high rise blocks, perhaps the cheaper side to live... well the area I was walking.... found a hostel with good views and they gave me a map so was able to get to the statue with less detours..
What a very large structure it is.. Chapel at the bottom was very modern in the artwork.
Some of it I liked..Cloudy day but got some photos then took the 4 euros lift ride to near the top.... then 50 steps and another Chapel which was more traditional but modern ..More my style. Elegant I would say... then what a. View.. 360 degrees. Cloudy but good to see... then walked down towards the port of Cacilhas to catch the ferry to cars de jouge. Then walked back for Mass at 7PM... was a crowd at Mass ...must be a funeral tomorrow.... T
