Awoke to a beautiful & colourful sunrise. After a leisurely breakfast we jumped on the bikes & off we went to CSV in mid morning heat. Only took 20 minutes. We arrived at the site which is clearly a tourist attraction as there were a couple of coaches, 8 motorhomes & a couple of dozen cars. This place, now fielding a lighthouse, used to be a monastery & is on a pilgrim’s trail; you can tell by the fact that there’s a hotdog stall on the car park. The views were spectacular & the cliffs a good 300’ from sea level. We walked around then went to the end of another promontory where some local chap was setting up his fishing rod atop the cliff! What made me laugh wasn’t that so much but that he was carrying a landing net with a 3’ handle! The weather today was simply glorious & all the little hardy alpines were in full bloom, really pretty.
Then back up the road to an old fort that housed a church, but it was all chained up which was a swizz. Anyway, we found some ancient steps down the cliff cut out
of the rock so we had a wander down. The sea today was calm & we could see shoals of fish on the surface. Very, very pretty spot.
Back home & I went down to reception on the off chance they had some bread left. No but I bought 2 confections a little like custard tarts. They were just delicious- Cathy said that she had read something from Rick Stein saying they were the nicest custard tarts he had ever tasted so we were in good company. Going to buy more of those!
After lunch we tied the parasol to my crossbar, rucksack with towels on my back, man bag & rocks in my panniers (my role as pack horse) & cycled to the local beach with the thermometer reading 26* although with the slightest of breezes it was a fantastic afternoon. We had a paddle, me not wanting to go swimming despite me carrying nitrate heart spray & jump leads; it was cold ish but a few people braved it & Cathy was in up to her waist obviously feeling very brave. We watched 3 warships on the horizon go past wondering what they were up to.
Across by the cliff base about 20 yards away, I saw a couple about our age, the short haired man with his back towards us & the woman facing us, topless. I said to Cathy, there’s a first for everything, that chap is rubbing sun tan cream into that woman’s breasts & they both seem to be really enjoying it. Then the ‘chap’ turned round & it was another woman, also topless! Then they were kissing, walked into the sea & they were all over each other! Tut...ha!
Then I had an English lawyer call me about the incident & next steps...
We decided it was time to go & Cathy started laughing. An old chap behind us just dropped his trunks & changed into his pants & shorts. Remember when I said I sometimes wonder what will happen to be noteworthy for the blog...
Home to find a German VW van 2 pitches away (complete with a crying baby), a French motorhome reversing into the pitch next to us (with a dog) then a Spanish van into the other side; this site probably has 200 pitches & is nearly empty...is it just me?
We
both love it here, a nice site, good cycling, a cracking nearby beach & an awesome coastline & have we been fortunate with the weather? Cathy now planning a return to include southern Spain & Cadiz.
