11th April

Breakfast, washing then wifi time. I went to see the lady on reception about the police, no joy & we have to ring the police station where the prosecution will be launched. No doubt on the day, we’ll ring & no-one will have a scooby doo why we’re ringing. I hoping that come the day the campsite will let us use their phone & one of them can speak English & help translate.

Then David arrived & he drove us into Lagos. He has a small IQ... as in Toyota IQ, a super little car. Parked up & had a leisurely wander through the town & went for a coffee outside a restaurant overlooking the bay & 6km of sandy beach. Overall, we summarised our lives since we last saw each other whilst David showed us around & taking in the town. We walked to a bustling restaurant where we ate a late, large lunch together, Cathy & I settling on sea bass just like so often in Cyprus. David drove us home late afternoon – it was just really great to see him after all this time & playing catch up. We didn’t eat in the evening, we were so stuffed from lunch.

A Merc van turned up behind us . They set up a small tent & piled tons of stuff into it. They’re husband, wife & child, maybe giving themselves space in the van? I was waiting for an extension ladder to come out. Then discovered there are 2 children so now understood.

I hadn’t looked at the weather forecast for a couple of days but David said that tomorrow is another hot day with calmer seas, so maybe we’ll cycle to the most westerly point of Europe, Cabot de Sao Vicente approximately 6km away. I love this life, I really do...

Ps for my ex Rothmans & BAT friends, it’s David Griffiths – looking well & enjoying life on the W. Algarve with Jill & their new arrival, Max...the dog.

Yesterday
It was good to see you both yesterday, 17 years and you have not changes a bit, Glad you liked Cape St. Vincent, I bet it was hot on the bikes. Max did really well at school when I left you 9.5/10, so we are getting there.... Don't forget when you visit next, I could do with a Warburtons blue loaf.... ps: Heard today that Iceland are opening a new site in Portimao, so soon we will be able to do all our shopping in one nearby supermarket. (Branson, salad cream, HP, English bacon, sausages, and WARBURTONS (blue))........ Take care and drive safely, Dave
