Salt Sculptures
made completely out of salt Today, we started in Krakow, went to the salt mine Wieliczka outside of Krakow, and then made our way to Warsaw. The salt mine was huge, filled with many different chambers all different made completely out of salt. It was a nice way to cool down since it was getting pretty hot and sunny there in Poland. We had a good time because we had some interesting English chaps in our group, and a very dry humor tour guide. Once we got back to the hostel, we went to go eat at a cute lil' restaurant in the Jewish district, where I had an amazing meal. It started with some Borsch soup with dumplings, then as a main course some chicken livers, which I thoroughly enjoyed. We made sure to round out our experience by going to another cafe next to the Old Synagogue enjoying yet another frozen coffee. We then made it to the Jewish cemetery where one may go to leave a note at the grave of Rabbi Mojsze (or Rabbi Moses) to ask for prayers or whatnot. At that cemetery, we saw that the walls of it seemed to be made up of old tombstones, which we assumed
Spaghetti Salt
The salt hanging down from the ceiling they called spaghetti salt was from the destruction of the war.
We then proceeded to get some snacks for the train ride that we had into Warsaw. Once we got to Warsaw, we took the tram, and after a few snags, we finally made it to her dorm, where we got ready to meet up with her god-sister Sandra. We just happened also to run into our Mexican friends from Houston who happened to be in Warsaw at the same time. We had some vodka shots, a type of vodka from Iza's family's region of Poland, as well as a Mad Dog, which is a shot of vodka with tabasco sauce and some raspberry syrup, which was surprisingly good. Iza also had me try some cold soup that she will have to remind me what was in it. After all of that, we called it a night to get ready for the next morning.
