Jehn dohbrih (hello) Departure Overnight train Minsk to Warsaw leaves at 9:45pm Rushing to the train – by bus and tram or subway from our apartment determined by bus number and how long to stand in the dark and cold No 34 bus, so finally chose the 46 bus which meant a tram. Think… was it the 4 and 1 or 3 tram that goes to the train station the 3 tram showed up first. Cold made us choose. half-way there a wrong turn – dang, hop off and run to the other track wait in the cold, finally the 4 tram to the train station. Tip – don’t arrive too early at the train station. It is not like an airport where you need to be super early. No check in and trains run on ... read more

Hi guys! So I'm finally finishing everything up, but finally the blog is up and running! So, I left Gothenburg at 5:40 pm Monday, and got on the train to Malmo, where we switched trains to the one going to Berlin, and then after that we got on the train to Kraków. My first impression of Kraków? Cold. Super cold. But on the train from Berlin, I ended up next to this really cute girl named Michelle, and she was going to Auschwitz too! So we ended up exploring Kraków together, it was really really nice! We arrived at like 8 pm so there wasn't really that much to do, except to look for a cheap hotel and a restaurant... We stayed at the Old Walls hostel, which was very central, and really cheap! They also ... read more

Checked in to Ibis hotel for a reasonable price of £100 for 3 nights and its bang on city centre location. After a 3 hour train journey from Warsaw to Kraków I needed a nap. After that my local friend picked me up and I was on my way to discover the city. The main square is a 10 mins walk from here so we go and try local cuisine followed by polish beer. I had the pierogi (dumplings) with spinach and cheese..."amazing" is an understatement, beetroot soup, winter tea and for dessert we had dumplings again his time with blueberry as it is in season here. it was my first time to have the same thing for main and dessert but I would definitely go back and order the same. My friend then showed me ... read more

So iv been on a train from Warsaw to Kraków (Poland) and with so much time to kill I had this idea of blogging. I'm not here to make money or advertise or get popular just want to share my experience with other bloggers or just people that want to travel new places and know the do's and the dont's, where to go and what to do in that city. By the time I even got started setting up this account, iv almost reached my destination ...Kraków. One more thing about me I love to travel and for cheap and meet locals and interact as much as opposed to being just a typical tourist. once again I'm very new in this so excuse me for sounding or coming across as too amateurish. will blog soon once ... read more

When I drop the money into her basket I see it is bellied with heavy coins and high-denomination bills. Darkness is descending and a cold Autumn drizzle with it. Spectators pull their heads into their collars like baby chicks and hug themselves against the chill. Winter is in the air. The woman is very thin. She stands in front of a great stone wall next to Saints Peter's and Paul's Church on Grodza Street. A squat, battery-powered speaker, cabled to an i-Pod in her hand, sits beside her on the wet pavement like a patient pet. Standing alone in her Houndstooth skirt, black stockings and red Cardigan she looks like a lonely waif. Her voice is pure. Each note rings clear and true. She sings some arias and then she lets loose with Agnus Dei from ... read more

Sabbath, 20 Sep – Krakow The rain and cold that was supposed to be in Vilnius has finally caught up to us. It started raining overnight so we slept in, had a lazy breakfast and then walked around our district, Kazimierz (the Old Jewish Quarter) in Krakow. There are a number of synagogues and Jewish restaurants all within the small suburb, although the businesses don’t all observe Sabbath as most were open. Since the Jews were forcibly relocated to the ghetto in 1941, other people moved in and have lived here ever since, so it is Jewish mainly in name. In 1987 some Jews started to return to the area however but they are still small in number and mostly older Krakovians. After wandering Kazimierz, we crossed the river to what used to be the ghetto. ... read more

Kraków Poland 6 September 2014 We arrived in the city at about 3.30pm and found a gated park about 5 minutes walk from the Old Town. We were looking forward to visiting Krakow because we had heard so many interesting accounts from other travellers. Immediately we saw some imposing monuments of some of the past conflicts that Poland has found itself in, over the centuries. The main Market Square was easy to find and we immediately saw Cloth Hall which was the 1st shopping mall in the world, so they claim. The little shops are full of tourist 'stuff'. We just wandered around the Old Town watching the live statues playing tricks on bypasses, listening to piano accordionists', popping into a couple of the churches and generally soaking in the atmosphere on this beautiful Saturday afternoon. ... read more

We landed, got our luggage, got money, headed for the bus to the city, and then the fun began. The 40 some passenger bus already had twice that amount including everyone's bags. Tickets were only sold from a machine that only took coins. We only had a 200 zloty bill. The bus was getting ready to leave, we wanted to get to the city, we hopped on. Locals were warning people of the 1000 zloty fine if you didn't have a ticket, but there was no way to get a ticket. After a 40 minute bus ride there was our hotel right at one of the scheduled stops. We didn't have to pay a fine, we didn't have to do hard time, and we got dropped off in front of our hotel. The travel angels were ... read more
