Walking in England
Love these public walkways across beautiful fields and through great bush walks. England continued to spoil us with great weather right through until we left. We filled in our remaining time walking and finding a few new places and walks. Also went up to London to help, in a small way, Alex and Kevon move into their new flat. Nice to see where they will spend the next year at least and they are both not too far away from their respective hospitals. A couple of meals in country pubs ended our brilliant time in England before leaving Pete and Helens and departing there on Thursday the 2nd August. Its nice to think that we will catch up with them in NZ over Christmas/New Year.
Norway greeted us with our 2 lovely granddaughters holding signs of welcome dancing at the entrance to arrivals in Bergen. It is so great to see Lilly and Stella after 16 months and we can't believe how they have grown. Chris and Hege are tanned and well, as the family had only arrived home, from 2 weeks in Spain, that morning. They have a few things planned for our 5 weeks stay. Unfortunately the great weather that Norway had been experiencing for most the summer saw us
Walking in England.
Di walking into a nice English village which we came across as we walked a new route out of Corsham. arrive and decided that it was about time that it rained so the plant life could recover and the fire bans could be discarded. So for the 1st week the weather wasn't great but the last few days have been brilliant. On the Friday we headed up to Voss, in the mountains for the weekend, so we could see Chris and Hege's new apartment up there and how good it is. Boy, we are impressed and feel that is a great investment for them. They took possession of it in October last year and right through the winter we kept on getting snap chats etc, showing the whole family enjoying the skiing. They loved it so much that the routine of driving up there nearly every Friday evening {about and hour and half drive} and then getting onto the slopes to ski under flood lights, became a regular occurrence. From the apartment to the ski field near them is about 20 mts then they are off and skiing. When coming down they just ski right up to their stairway and ski storage room, and thats it. Home into the warm. Of course there is heaps more to do in Voss
Voss.
Hege and Chris's new apartment high on the ski slopes of Voss apart from skiing. It's summer of course so we did a couple of big walks and looked around at the assortment of other sports. Watched some white water rafting and kayaking on a good river that flows into the lakes. Saturday we climbed up to the top of a chair lift, {not working during summer } and caught the beautiful view and surrounds. A magic place. Back in Bergen we have had the girls to look after and have enjoyed walking with Stella to holiday activities and Lilly has had a few soccer camps. They have a full life but with the long evenings we have plenty of time to spend with them. Saturday night Di joined Lilly and Stella and went off to one of Chris's concerts, a concert by 2 heart throbs, Marcus and Martinus, twin Norwegian boys who have been one of the big acts of Scandinavia for a few years. Great excitment for the girls and Stella is NOT washing her right hand as Marcus high fived her at one stage. {She is on day 5 now}. Di was most impressed by the whole show. Sunday, Rune and Lillian picked us up and we went to

The kitchen/ dining area. a soccer tournament that Lilly was playing in. A beautiful day and great to see the kids enjoying their games. Chris is in busy mode at present with lots happening in the way of concerts etc. Celebrations for Hege's birthday on Tuesday night and it was great to catch up with Hege's family while enjoying a b'que at home.
