Day 80, 13.06.19. Thursday. Been having trouble finding things to write about the last two weeks, the weather has been very bad, with occational warm and sunny days. Last night and today it's been very bad. 18 mm rain was supposed to come down in this area, it has stopped raining now but it's still cold and damp. Tried to pan for gold another spot today, no luck. So that's it for this area, I know it's gold here but I won't bother to try find it when it's probably under meters of sediments, I don't have gold fever, so I'm not going to ruin how the natur looks in the areas that I'm panning. The icesheet during the iceage was about 1 km thick in this area, and so the granite was grinded away and ... read more

Day 66, 30.05.19. Thursday. Moved my camp yesterday from the marshland, the rain and snow made it very hard to move around without getting wet. Bought some trenchboots at a small shopping-mall and hoped to get a lift a couple days ago to pack my gear and head for a dryer area. I was already exhausted and still had cramps in both legs, the left one quite severe. Pain was shooting up my legs for each step and compensating by walking different didn't help much, the trenchboots was not designed for walking longer distances so I got cramps from that as well. I had to walk about 20 km before someone picked me up, and by the time I got back to camp it started hailing, snowing, raining and thundering like doomsday was coming. I had ... read more

Day 64, 28.05.19. Tuesday. Finally, I'm in the Finnforest! By one of the largest lakes in the area, Rysjøen. It was quite an effort to get here, sometimes not even as pleasant as I would like it to be. It started when I was about to take the train from Oslo after visiting my friend the philosopher. Had about 10 min to catch it after buying a go-pro from a nice fella that gave me a decent price for it. Bought the ticket and headed down to the platform, there was some commotion on the speaker that absolutely no one there understood, so I asked a lady-conductor about the train to Elverum, she said it was the next one after the current train had left, so I waited. The train left, but another came on the ... read more

I understand that people might want to see photos. I would love to, but this is the first internet machine I have been able to access since Oslo! That was now six days ago. It is a terminal, not a PC with the ability to download photos. The short blog entries are being done by my daughter from SMS texts. There was one night where that wasn't even possible, but if I can send text, that at least lets you know that I am alive and well (if a little footsore). So please accept that it might be a few days before I can share photos with you.... read more

Left Bogbakken relatively early, not quite knowing whether the Pilgrim Centre estimate of the distance was correct, or my hosts more pessimistic view that it was a 30km walk. Within a 100m or so, he was. Today was a three church day. The first after a couple of kilometres at Tangen, the second at Stange, and the third a mere glimpse in the distance of the Glass Cathedral, a ruin that has been covered to preserve it. Only from a distance, it looks like any other large glasshouse. I only hope it lives up to its expectations tomorrow. After a short road stretch, it was into the sort of country that in Australia one might characterise as red-neck. Places still in the process of construction with an unregistered Alfa, two unregistered Mitsubishi, and a skull over ... read more

Skøl Everyone!!! Wow...I LOVE Norway! It feels like home to me. We spent our first day of our tour in Lillehamer & toured the Olympic Ski Jump. We made a trip down the ski lift and watched the althetic young lads training on the hill. It was very funny to see this in the middle of summer. But the jump is covered in green plastic fringey stuff and they wet it down. They were jumping right beside us as we came down the lift. The Norwegians keep their homes and properties very neat and tidy! Very colorful. Some homes have tile roofs but there are still lots that have sod roofs. Darlene is concerned about picking her raspberries off the roof. Apparently, the roof does not rot - weird!!! Today we drove up over the mountains ... read more
