Saying goodbye Nicole managed to get up on time today... and so did I! We left for Diemen (about 10 minutes out of Amsterdam) to catch the train to Amsterdam, it is free parking there and impossible to find a park in Amsterdam. We made it to Amsterdam with PLENTY of time to spare (50 minutes to spare to be exact) before Nicole had to catch her train to Paris. We stood around and waited for her train and waited for the train to leave... Aunty Margareth wanted to make sure Nicole didn't get off again!!! Steve and I went on a Canal Cruise to see the 'Top 100 Attractions of Amsterdam' which was cool. That canal ride was about 1 hour long so we met Aunty Margareth and Uncle Albert at the dock where we got on. We went to a takeaway type shop for croquettes and chips for lunch then headed towards the town centre. We ended up walking down a street filled with sex shops and 'special' coffee shops (the smell was VERY strong... and it wasn't coffee!)... and may I say at this point that Uncle Albert was leading the way! After wandering around for a while we went

Steve and I getting onto our canal cruise boat to a house called 'A house of stories' where we had little machines to hear all about the history of the house and where there was a church inside but you would never know from the front (it just looked like another housing building).
After that we went to the middle of Amsterdam where it was really busy and went through some doors... when the doors were closed you would never have even known you were in the middle of Amsterdam, apparently it used to house women who did not go as far as become nuns but wanted to assist and go good works (I think that is how the story goes... Sorry Aunty Margareth if I got it wrong!)
Our last stop was going to be the Anna Frank house (a girl who hid with her family during the war) but when we made it there their was a queue that went as far as we could see... we decided against that visit!
Back to the train station (where there was a lot of chaos... police were out in force dealing with one situation and ambulance staff were inside dealing with a women lying on the ground). Back in

The 7 canal bridges all in a row Demien we drove for a while (I'm not sure how long because apparently I fell asleep for a while) and stoped in a little town for Chinese for dinner! We were the only people in the resaurant (being a Monday night and 8pm) and so we had all the attention of the waitress... problem was she was far to friendly and chirpy and happy and bouncy and OTT for our liking! All good though because the food was DELICIOUS!!!! We got given the menus, which coinsidentily were in Dutch so Steve and I had NO idea what the options were, so we left the decisions up to Uncle Albert and Aunty Margareth... they made good choices!
Home that night then caught up with our families (me with Mum and Jodie and Steve with his family)
That's all for Monday!
Xx
