Today was literally spent ducking in and out of cafes trying to keep warm! We lasted about 15mins at a time outside! Alot of hot drinks and food was consumed! We visited the red light district which was interesting to say the least but think it would have been more eye opening i think!
We spent an hour this arvo on a city bus tour which was interesting but we didnt see many new things which was what we were hoping! We really wanted to see the I Amsterdam sign but didnt 😞
This was our entire day! Unfortunately there was no sun today and very very windy! We just couldnt get warm! So we headed to the airport early in hope of warmth. But even the airport was freezig! We waited for about 2 hours before heading through security. We then noticed our plane was delayed 40mins, so had some maccas, then it was delayed another 40mins! Then all of a sudden our flight disappeared from the screen all together! By this stage the airport was almost deserted and no kiosks were open for us to find out what was going on! Eventually our flight came back up
on the screen but had 'departed' next to it!! Ah well...haha nah it hadnt departe as everyone on our fligt was still there hanging around. They gave us a 4 euro food voucher to use at the only cafe open so we had the dregs that were left but better than nothing! The departure lounge then shut and we all got shipped to that in between walkway where theres no carpet and we didnt know our gate so were all lying on the hard ground snuggling to keep warm! Eventually we got on our plne though and did the 30min flight to london! when we looked outside the place was COVERED with snow! Really pretty and we could sorta understand the delays!
But 6 flights all landed in stanstead at the same time and they had 2 ppl working at customs so I wait an hour and a half in the queue to get through customs!!! By the time we waited in the queue for this and the bus whch was still running every 30mins even though 6 flights had arrived and all tubes had stopped for the day, it was 3.30am!! We arrived home at 4.30am and were
meant to land at 9pm!! gahhhh!! So unfortunately the weekend will be mainly remembered by freezingness and hourrrrrrs spent at the airport and in planes! but nevertheless it was a good weekend with the girls and def somewhere I will hopefuly head back to sometime in the summer! 😊
