Italy: Venice
Navigating through the narrow, shallow canal network in the Giudecca Canal. Day 31: 26th. July: Temp 28C: Another early breakfast so we could go out on deck on a beautiful clear morning and watch as we approached Venice. We had been to Venice in 1995 - one day to see not much, so it was with great anticipation that we stood with cameras at the ready as we glided through what appeared as very shallow water, into the Giudecca Canal , where we overlooked the buildings and small canals as we passed by to our berth. After lunch it was off the ship and a walk to the nearest spot (the Parking Garage) to collect our pre-paid Venice Connected Card. We found the No. 41 vaporetto (public water bus) to take us to the hostel where we would be staying as of tomorrow, then on the vaporetto again out and around some of the islands - 2 hours later we were back where we had started. Our last night on the ship and last of the nice meals so we made the most of it before settling for the night.
Day 32: 27th. July: Temp 28C: After breakfast we assembled in the Princess Theatre ready for disembarkation then off to collect

Found a deli nearby to buy lunch and then onto a vaporetto to an island - San Michele Cemetery - where we wandered around for an hour or so - very different spot to visit - then off to Murano where the famous glass is made and wandered about at our leisure before getting on the D M vaporetto stopping at the station where we bumped into Ini, Frank, Lucy and John who were going on the vaporetto 41 so we all boarded and later waved goodbye again as we got off on our way to the hostel.
Day 33: 28th. July: Temp 29C: Breakfast today was fruit juice, bread rolls with jam, tea (selection), hot choc or coffee. Off for a stroll through the Public Gardens and around the

We made our way to the Realto Bridge and from there strolled about over little bridges and alongside of canals as we got lost in Venice until eventually we came out a Zattere and ferried back to the hostel.
Day 34: 29th. July: Temp 30C: This morning we we had an early visit to St. Mark's before the crowds then walked over bridges and down canal paths. What a wonderful place Venice is! we walked home on Giudecca from the first vaporetto stop - past buildings surrounded with barbed wire and a tall chimney stack attached to the Hilton Hotel, through parks and along paths to the hostel. We did and evening cruise through the Grand Canal which was really very nice.
Day 35: 30th. July: Temp 31: Today we went to the other islands - through waterways that resembled the fens onto Burano Island where there are homes of many different hues. On the T boat to Torcello and a stop there before returning to the hostel.
