Last week was spent in Assisi, Perugia, Norcia, and Campi. That's the main reason why I haven't had time to update. Besides the small vacation, we also had an Art and History final today and a paper due today as well. Assisi was great! We made it to the basilicas of St. Francis and St. Claire on the first day. We also got to see the birthplace of St. Francis. It was nice to finally get to learn about the basilica of St. Francis, because on my last trip I didn't learn much about it. The people who work there are REALLY strict and shh you the whole time, so it's nearly impossible for anyone to explain anything in the church. However, this trip, our professor had us all rent headsets and he spoke into a microphone and we got to listen to him in that way! Tuesday, we went to Perugia, which is known for their chocolate! Don't worry, I bought way too much of it! We spent the whole day just walking around and touring Perugia which is the home town of Francesco, our professor, and the place where Raphael studied. Oh, and we got looked at a LOT because our group was all wearing green for Saint Patrick's Day and apparently the Italians don't believe in celebrating this day like we do! 😞 A big group of us went out to the ONE bar in town which was called "Penny Lane." It was an English bar, but it would have to do. The next morning we went to Norcia, the hometown of Saint Benedict and Campi, just a small town up in the mountainside. After Campi, we went back to our hotel for the night. I must say though, that we had the best food EVER in Assisi!!! So, I'm glad that we got a break from the Villa. On Thursday, a small group of us went into town and hiked several miles up and down the mountain to get to San Damiano church. This church was the previous home of the cross that spoke to Saint Francis. It was beautiful, but we were in a hurry so that we wouldn't miss our train and we ended up having to run all the way back up and down the mountain to catch a bus back to the hotel. We got to the hotel, had to grab our suitcases and jump right back on a bus to make it to our train! It was a little crazy, but it was worth it! Over the weekend I spent most of my time avoiding the little kids that were staying at the villa. There were probably about 30 of them and they thought that screaming ALL DAY from like 6am until 11:30 pm was okay. And unfortunately, their supervisors did too. Monday we woke up to find that the water wouldn't turn on! Thank God we had some bottled water so that we could at least brush our teeth! I had classes all day and then went to bed. Yesterday was crazy! We woke up extra early to get into Florence and go to a museum. It was really neat, but talk about exhausting! Then we had classes into the afternoon, and then I had to study for my final and finish my paper. So far, things are going great, but I'm counting down the days until I can eat Chinese or Mexican, or drink Dr. Pepper even! There's only 35 days left! And only 13 more days of classes left and one day of finals! This week's tasks include: picking classes for next semester and trying to figure out plans for spring break. There are a few of us who managed to get tickets to the Easter Vigil mass at the Vatican!! Now we just need to figure out where we're staying and buy train tickets! 😊

**I'll work on posting pictures as soon as I get a chance.

**We had our Italian midterm on the 12th and just got it back on Monday. I got an 87% (so a B-) which is better then my quiz scores have been, but it's still not as high as I'd like my score to be.

This would have been one of Michelangelo's earliest works. It also wouldn't have been viewed as valuable at the time because it is wooden and not stone or metal.

Brad was craving a Milkshake so we stopped at McDonald's...but sad to say that the milkshakes in Italy aren't AS GOOD as ours!
