Pasta
Lady showing us how to make homemade pasta. On Saturday I had my first trip outside Perugia. I went with about 9 other people to Assisi, a town about 25 minutes east of Perugia by train. We left Perugia at 10:30am from the Train station. It was really easy to get on the train and go. All we had to do was buy tickets at the electronic booth and then validate them before we got on the train. The train was pretty comfortable and was really quick and the tickets only cost about 5 euro roundtrip. In Assisi I saw Il Basilico da San Rufino, Rocca Maggiore (a castle), and Il Basilico da San Francesco. The Basilicas were amazing! Inside there were frescos that had been painted several hundred years ago, tombs of Saints, and beautiful religious statues. For any that know me really well you will know that this is right up my ally of interests. 😊 All the sights were beautiful and it was a wonderfull day, although long. We ended up not being able to catch the bus to the bottom of the mountain and walked the 2.5 miles down some rougher terrain and then ended up waiting for another hour for the next train to

kneeding the dough Perugia! We were all tired and ready to go back home by the end of the day.
Our orientation trip was on Sunday September 7, 2008. We went to a local farm where the owner runs a non-profit community center. He explained the legumes/beans he grew on the farm, the olives, and how founed the center. We also were able to watch a demonstration on fresh pasta making and ate a homemade dinner. The dinner was made from produce of the farm.
