We were not sorry to leave Naples behind us, apart from everything it is a beautiful city with lots o things to see. But to get out of this place without scratches to your car is wonderful. We had a good run towards Reggio de Calabria. We arrived early afternoon due to a very nice no toll road where you could drive 140-150 k.m. A young person showed us our room that was just newly refurbished. Very nice. We went out for a walk to see a bit from the city for we are there just for the night. Shops are all open till at least 8 o'clock. We looked for a place to eat that was hard to find. We finished up in a small family place. It was called Piza place. We settled for a pizza that Dad cooked and Mum served. Was very nice with an icy cold local beer. We had a good night rest and were ready to tackle Sicily. We had to find the ferry to take us there. Our bad luck it was the weekend and lots of Italians were ready to go on holidays to Sicily and on the same Ferry. Long waits trying to get to the ferry without a scratch but we managed. It takes about 40 minutes to get across. Landed on the other side our GPR made the wrong choice and send us all along the coast to Catania. After two hours of murdering driving through terrible small streets, where cars were parked as well, we found a toll road that took us to Palermo. There we found our Hotel, not one of the best, but that is another story. We parked the car in an underground park again very small. You have to go forth and back to get in. But now we were ready to see the City. We slept in a very dark room, internet was not existing and worth of all was the breakfast. The people here eat cakes in the morning. Unreal all sweet stuff. We managed to get later some cheese and ham as well yogurt that made it a bit better. Lots of things to see in Palermo but again most are churches. There were nice fountains and a Palace called Real. It had a most beautiful chapel all in mosaic. You could see three periods in there. Catholic than Greek and as well Moorish. Really amazing. We spend three days in Palermo. It has a lot of coloured people but not a sign of crime. They try to sell you things but if you say no they walk away. Close to where we stay was a daily market. Not very interesting they all sell the same things. We found a nice restaurant where we finished up late evening. For they eat late in Italy. There is so much more to tell but it takes to long to do. We soon are of to Agrigento and the Valley of the Temples. Till than.
