A day in Rome

I had a lot of fun today. We got up kinda early and took the train to Rome for the day. Unfortunately the Sistine Chapel was closed (until Monday!! grrr when they swear in the new Pope). But we walked to the Spanish Steps (which we aren't sure how they became so famous) and to the Trevi fountain. It was big and really cool. We threw coins in and then I read that you are supposed to throw them in while facing away over your shoulder. So we did it again 😊
Lunch was good too. We just picked a place randomly. I go some pizza and Adam got Pear & Balsalmic vinegar Risotto. I really liked his dish - the pears were yummy!
We also went to the Pantheon which was neat. There is a big circle in the ceiling and some little holes in the floor for when it rains. At 3 p.m. (when it re-opened) we went to the crypt of the Cappucini monks. It was pretty creepy and very unusual. As fascinating as the designs were, it was disturbing to think that it was all real bones -- that they were once alive. It was an interesting experience.
We came back to florence and got our train situation to Barcelona. We leave tomorrow (or actually Sunday) at 12:30 A.M. !!! Take 3 trains and get to Barcelona at 9:45 p.m. It's going to be a very long day, but I can't believe we're almost at our last destination! And that we only have a week left. I'm not ready to leave yet.
Today was also Adam and my 4 year, 7 month anniversary. I surprised him with a card on the Spanish Steps 😊

But it was fun to do things today that Adam hadn't done yet and tomorrow we are going to try to get into the Uffizi!! Italy has been more fun that I thought it would be, and there are a few things I would like to come back and do/see someday.
