Tracks
After the snow fight you can see the tracks of where we stepped. So I'm told that Europe is currently undergoing an unusual cold snap and I am taking advantage of the snow in Bologna, the snow has been quite fun actually. As it happens, the last time I was in Bologna it also snowed, I haven't been as cold as I was last time, but then again I actually have a coat this time. I happened to miss the snow in London, which would have been really awesome.
Before I left the UK I went to May's (A friend of Alan my cousin) murder mystery birthday party. I hadn't actually been to a murder mystery party before and I hadn't met May before either but it was a pretty rad night. The majority of people there happened to be Chinese-British, which funnily enough happens to be a category that I fall into, but the novelty of being Australian is quite the ice-breaker. The murder mystery culminated in May sculling wine, while Alan hulla hooped, not a bad outcome really.
After a lazy Sunday morning I headed to St Albans with my Uncles, step-Aunty and Alan to catch up with some more family for the next couple of days before heading to
Morning Snow
After the nights snowfall Italy to reunite with Claudia. While I was in St Albans I checked out my Uncles allotment, which he started 3 years ago. It's actually quite developed compared to many of the others around his, there is apparently a 10 year wait to get an allotment. During the Second World War the government commissioned people to utilise the allotment for growing food, but when the war finished so did the demand for allotments. But now with the organic and local food craze the demand for them has shot right up.
My Uncle dropped me at Stansted airport to get a flight to Bologna quite early in the morning, if he hadn't I probably would have had to camp the night at the airport to make the flight.
After a reasonably short flight (but long when I had to pee the whole time and didn't want to disturb the sleeping guy next to me) I was reunited with Claudia. I've decided that Italy is much better when you are seeing it with someone who speaks Italian. She's staying with a bunch of pretty cool people and they have quite a cool cat. I've spent most of my time in
Murder Mystery Madness
Doing the roll-play, mad bomber and top gun from killers international Bologna in libraries and rushing between classrooms, but it has been awesome to see the life of a Bologna uni student. The buildings here are very old and really cool, but the uni system here seems frustrating, libraries have shite opening times and the exam procedure is pretty rubbish too. The pizza however has been really great, I think I've put on a couple of kgs this trip.
The next stop is going to be Belgium, which we actually missed a flight for on Friday so now we're going on Sunday, oops!
