Sunday, 31 August – We are packed and ready to go on the road again! We are spending the month of September touring the south of Italy. Our initial route, commencing in Orvieto, will take us eastward through Baschi, Amelia, Narni, Terni to Rieti where we plan to stop for lunch. After a siesta we plan to drive to L’Aquila where we have made a reservation in a small boutique hotel for two nights. L’Aquila is the Apennine mountain town near the epicentre of an earthquake measuring 6.3 that struck in April 2009 in which over 300 people died and much of the town centre, including a recently-built hospital, was destroyed.
