Nukuin erinomaisesti.

22nd June 2021 – 29thJune 2021 Well it was certainly a rollercoaster to get here!! First of all we booked a trip to IceIand 22nd – 29th June , but then the hospital phoned up and I was going to have a replacement knee on 23rd June, so the trip was cancelled. After being in the hospital on the 16th June as a standby patient, having various tests etc I was eventually declined because of a graze on my knee! The surgeon wasn’t keen to do it on the 23rd June due to the fact I was going to a wedding on the 2nd July so it was decided he would see me in 4 weeks time for a pre-assessment!! So the first thing we did was re-book Iceland!! Iceland is a ‘green’ country so no ... read more

On 19. March 2021 a volcanic eruption started in the Geldingadalir valley at the Fagradalsfjall mountain on the Reykjanes peninsula, South-West Iceland. The volcano is situated approximately 30 km from the country’s capital city, Reykjavík. The eruption is ongoing and the landscape in the valley and its surrounding area is constantly changing as a result. In March to a total of six vent systems (with eight vents in total) along the main fissure of the eruption, marking one of the visibly most active phase of the eruption so far. Having visited with Albert at night it was amazing to see the eruption in daylight. http://www.heygo.com... read more

The Diamond Beach is a strip of black sand belonging to the greater Breiðamerkursandur glacial plain, located by Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon on the South Coast of Iceland. The icebergs beautiful display makes it a favourite location for photographers and nature-lovers. Wildlife-enthusiasts also frequent the site as many seals call the beach home, and it is one of the best places in the country to see orcas from the shore. The outwash plain was formed when three of Vatnajökull’s outlet glaciers, Breiðamerkurjökull, Hrútárjökull and Fjallsjökull, flowed forward due to volcanic activity. This ground the rocks of the underlying surface, creating and pushing forward the glacial sediments. Such sand plains are a common part of the Icelandic landscape, due to the island being volcanically active as well as boasting numerous ice caps. The glacier lagoon and Diamond Beach ... read more

A new fissure has opened up at an Icelandic volcano that began erupting last month, prompting the evacuation of hundreds of hikers who had come to see the spectacle. The new fissure, first spotted by a sightseeing helicopter, was about 500 meters (550 yards) long and about a kilometer (around a half-mile) from the original eruption site in the Geldinga Valley. The long-dormant volcano on the Reykjanes Peninsula in southwest Iceland flared to life March 20 after tens of thousands of earthquakes were recorded in the area in the past three weeks. It was the area’s first volcanic eruption in nearly 800 years. http://www.heygo.com... read more

http://www.heygo.com 24th February - Icelandic Horses I had planned on several virtual trips to Iceland today but the weather was good so cancelled and spent the morning in the garden but I didn’t want to miss the opportunity of visiting an Icelandic Horse Farm. Our guide Albert, after the introduction, handed the microphone to the owner who explained about these unique horses The very first members of the breed arrived aboard the Viking ships of Norse settlers sometime between 860 and 935 AD. Although sources don't agree on the breed's exact ancestry, interestingly enough, many of its characteristics can be related to the mere circumstances of this transportation. Some claim that the animals were chosen because of their short but sturdy stature which made them ideal for overseas travelling. Since then, selective breeding has... read more
