15 October 2014 We drove down from Delphi’s lofty position to the north coast of the Gulf of Corinth and then westward for 15k to the attractive resort of Galaxidi where we were able to park the van right on the main harbour. Up until the end of the19
th century Galaxidi was a busy shipbuilding and trading port using the local sailing ships, kaikia. But it failed to modernise its fleet and declined to the minor fishing port it is now. We had a delightful day walking around the nearby headland, swimming and generally watching the comings and goings of the residents and boats. It was pleasantly finished off with a meal at one of the waterside restaurants where the owner assured us that the fish was caught by his own boat.
