We moved on fairly early, passed through the village of Meligalas (meaning Honeymilk) which was the site of a massacre during Greek Civil War of 1944-49 and arrived at the regional city Kalamata where it was market day. Consequently we had a happy hour being persuaded by the traders to buy far more fruit and vegetables than we had room in the van to store.
Then followed driving along a dramatic mountain road through gorges and over the Langada Pass at 1,600 metres. This took us to the famous medieval city of Mystra which we plan to explore tomorrow.
