Navarino Bay

After a pre breakfast swim we continued southwards along the coast to the town of Kyparissia where we stocked up on food and had a bit of adventure when we got mixed up with the market traders taking down their stalls. Our final destination was the well managed Erodias Camping situated in a lovely location on Navarino Bay a large natural anchorage formed by the island of Sfaktira which lies offshore. The bay is famous for the Battle of Navarino which took place on 20 October 1827 between the Turkish and combined British, French and Russian fleets. It was the last major confrontation between ships with sails.

Tomorrow we plan to explore the area.
