We finally left the Caravan and Camping Club group and drove inland along very winding roads into the mountains of the Arcadia region of The Peloponnese.

Our first stop was the village of Lagkadia which like all the settlements in this area was built into the side of the hill. We found a roadside taverna with a fantastic view from the restaurant and had an excellent lunch in which the main course was Goat served with a broth.

The destination we were heading for was the Lousios Gorge which is a famous location for remote monasteries. To reach the monastery of Prodromou we needed to drive down a narrow hairpin road and then walk along a steep track for 20 minutes.

After our visit we continued downwards and stayed the night with two Czech motorhomes in a car park at the bottom of the Gorge by the river.
