LOUTRAKI. MONDAY 3 November, 2014.
Today we travelled by bus to Loutraki a popular tourist town north of Athens, near the Corinth Canal which separates the mainland from the Peloponnese.
Mem worked in Loutraki 36 years ago, as a housemaid, together with her sister and two friends. Apparently the town was damaged by earthquake about 4 years after they left. Nothing was familiar! Didn't find any aged past boyfriends that she owned up to!!
The town foreshore was very attractive, with crystal clear water, very stony beach, not comfortable for sun bathing, although their were a few large women,Greek or German, who didn't object though.
Had a beer on the waterfront, very pleasant and most relaxing. The town was closing, amazing. I wonder where all the Greeks go. The German bankers must be taking Valium, considering Greece's huge debt. The roads and Athens transport are marvellous, and the bankers can't repossess those!
Blue sky and warm, another contradiction to past days.
