Arrived 10.30 pm. I prepaid a shuttle with Resorthoppa which was very cheap and took us to the door of Oasis in Tigaki.
On first impression it looked like we were the only ones staying here and that it was a little simple and isolated. In retrospect it is not a surprising impression for arriving in the middle of the night. I was initially concerned that we had commited to spend 2 weeks here. I commented that at least Tigaki had street lighting unlike other tiny villages we had dropped people off on the way so it couldn't be too boring.
Our room did have a kitchenette with everything we needed and everything working with fridge, table, balcony and ensuite. It was clean and tidy and not at all shabby.
Our impression changed for the better in the morning as the room started feeling more homely in the sunshine and we saw that the resort was actually quite decently occupied with most rooms having people in them. The pool was glorious and very clean, modern and well maintained, free WiFi around reception area, a book swap shelf and only a 5 and 10min walk to town and beach

Having 2 weeks here there was no hurry to rush anything.
We woke early and wandered around town as everything was opening. People loved that I was Australian and I got a warm reception. The cleaning lady Effie from Albania with no English kissed me on my cheek, Elleni at reception told us about her relatives in Aussie and later showed me photos of all her relatves in Sydney and in Kos, the Greek bike hire guy lived in Brisbane until he was 10. Our waiter in a restsursnt had been born in Sydney and then his parents s moved back to Greece. Our Dutch neighbours Maria and Steven were surprised at how far wed come. They didn't get that many Aussies here and it definitely brought out a warmth in people.
Maria and Steven were in Kos for a second time. Last time they were in Kos town and said it was too noisy. Here was more relaxed. They also said when they arrived at the resort they thought they were the only ones here.
The nearby bakery was fantastic and definitely one of the attractions and plusses from my point of view. We

Only the Non EUs got the privilege of a stamp in their passports had breakfast there using the small amount of coin I had brought with me and then stocked up at the supermarket using debt card.
Later we got cash out from the cash machines using debit card and checked the rate we got online when returning to the hotel and it was very close to the mid market exchange rate, even taking into account the fee they charged for the foreign machine use.
Spent the rest of the day by the pool, relaxing in the heat. There were many people around the place cycling and walking in the middle of the day but we were not yet acclimatized to the heat.
It has taken me a little while to adjust to the pace as well. I was energized by London and now had to chill. Tomas had no problem in chilling as he had been working right up to the trip but I had already had a month of chilling out in Adelaide before hand. He is still having trouble staying awake at any hour.
Once things cooled in the evening we joined all the other tourists in the main street restaurants and along the beautiful stretch of
the Mediterranean coastline for the lively, colourful atmosphere.
My impression of our room, resort and of Tigaki is now much more positive now that we are settling in and appreciating what is here.

This looks amazing!
What a great idea! You both look like you are getting in to the local spirit of things. What a fantastic experience. Glad that you are making the most of your time there and relaxing in the pool.
