We touched-down at Franfurt just in time to see my next flight taxi to take-off. That extra fuel we'd taken on hadn't helped, nor had the headwinds to be found in the 70°N latitudes. So, when we got to the gate we were met with queues to rebook us on connecting flights, mine was the next flight to Ferihegy, which was at 16.55 (original flight was 13.00, I made it to the gate at 13.10) What's another almost-4-hours, right?

I can't say a whole lot about Frankfurt airport. It might be one of the busiest in Europe, but it's dry and boring. The places to eat are VASTLY overpriced, the Duty-Free's have the usual narrow selection of perfumes, colognes, booze, and smokes. One suggestion, try to ignore the televisions, they play outdated video "news" with "commercial breaks" consisting of four LG commercials repeated over and over again, some of them more than once in a single "break".
