Progress: Predictably, the train arrived into Berlin Hbhf dead on time. Wow what a Station! Modern mega sophisticated and vast. Lines crossing above and below us. Who won??

Admission of error: We decided to get the bus to the Hotel JFK Arcotel. Seasoned travellers do NOT do cabs unless really necessary. WRONG DECISION.... The bus drove through various Strassers at high speed and made map reading impossible. We decanted at what looked a small square just after the 1000 bomber raid in 1945. Ah we must be in the Eastern Sector me thinks! It then starts to rain and so we trundle off in search of our Hotel. Taking advice from a friendly porter in the "bunker sector" we arrive at a well polished and sophisticated Hotel slightly damp but pleased with our feeble navigation efforts.

Status update:

Now in our rather hi-tech room over looking a small park with outlines in the grass rather reminiscent of steps going down into an air-raid shelter....... surley not?!

Sighteeing alert: Yes at last I seen the Brandenburg Gate in the flesh and stood on the spot where the Berlin Wall split a single nation. This part of Berlin still looks battle scared and you can see patched up bullet holes everywhere. The legacy of Mr H still looms large at every turn.

Weather bulletin: Blowy and wet. Groan and back to hotel by 1500hrs pooped. Only 2 hrs zizz in 24 hrs taking toll!

Tip of Day: No sleep: IQ Drops below 40. Menu reading etc difficult

Whisky status: 35cl remain despite rationing system.
