We woke up on this final morning in Munich saying good-bye to Churro. He wasn't able to get any more time off work and had to return home today. I accompanied him over to Munich's main train station where he transferred to a train that would bring him directly to the airport. We said our goodbyes and just like that, he was gone. With just 2 more days left in the trip, we had a few hours to kill in Munich before our 4pm train to Stuttgart. We tried looking around to pick up a few local souvernirs, but being that today was a Sunday, all the souvernir shops were closed for the afternoon. We ended up just walking around and ended up having a snack at a restaurant next to the Hofbrauhaus. It was here that I realized that I did not have our train tickets on me. I was almost positive that I had put them in my pocket. I told everyone to just stay here and finish up their snacks while I went back to the hotel to check my bags for the train tickets. The entire time back to the hotel, I was thinking that I must
have left the tickets in the room. The hotel staff were very sympathetic to my plight and searched the room and even searched the trash in case the tickets were accidentally discarded. With no luck finding them, I was beginning to think I would have to re-purchase the tickets. Suddenly out of the blue, one of the staff members had found them. Apparently, I had left it on a table and while cleaning, one of the staff members realizing that they were someone's train tickets, just left it at the front desk. With crisis averted, I made my way back over to where everyone else was waiting for me. With no where else in particular to go to, we just wandered around until eventually we were approached by a woman on bike. She was offering free rides over to a festival a few blocks away. With nothing else to do, we took her up on her offer to check out this festival. We were never quite able to figure out the theme or the reason for this festival, but a major street was shut down and there were food booths everywhere. We grabbed a few snacks and just walked around
eventually making it over to the Isar River. Our train departure was fast approaching so we left the festival after a quick 30 minutes, returned to the hotel, and retrieved our bags to make our way to Munich's train station. It took us about 2 1/2 hours to reach Stuttgart as we arrived in the late evening to grey skies and a light rain. Our hotel for the night was again the Motel One Hotel locted just off the train station. It was a quiet night tonight as we were all quite tired and with Churro gone, there definitely seemed like a gap in the group. We had a delicious dinner at an American steak restaurant before we all just retired for the night.
