I finally met up with Heather after my long ride to Munich. I got off the train and walked in the 30 degree heat and snow to finally meet up with Heather in the lobby of the hostel. After her original 3 day plan, I finally met up with her 6 days later.
We met some kids in our room and headed to the most famous Biergarden in all of Munich. We all had liter beers and pretzels and stumbled back home via the Metro at like 2.
The next day, we got up, checked out, stored our stuff in the luggage room of our FINAL hostel (minus one day in Rotterdam) and headed out for a 4 hour walking tour of the city. We saw the Glockinspiel, the New and Old CIty Halls, the church where the new pope was preist, Munich Opera House, and all the other famous sites around town. We didnt make it to the Olympic Park, which I heard was awesome, but I guess that is just another thing to put on the to do list for next time. And beleive me, travelling is a disease, there WILL be a next time.

Me, Miranda, and Melanie. Its not the best picture. walking tour was great, we got some sausage and potato salad for lunch at the local market, and our Irish tour guide took us around the rest of the city. After 5 hours of walking, we were ready to figure out our train, and head to Prague. It was our final LONG train ride, and Heather's FIRST in weeks. I have been on the train like non-stop, and I am ready for only short rides left.
This was our first "exciting" train ride. I read about 400 pages of the DiVinci Code, which I am re-reading since it is sooooo much better now that I have been in 90 percent of the places mentioned in the book. But otherise...
The train was really full, so we headed to the front. When we got this random German town, EVERYONE got off the train, and I luckily noticed. NO one spoke English, so we dashed off the train and ran towards the back. Luckily we made it.. but had we not noticed, the part of the train we were in was left for the night on the tracks where it was. They disconnected our cars and took the rest of the train. So lucky.
After that, we got busted for being in 1st class, so we finally went back to second class where it was packed. We found a car with an awesome German girl named Kathy, and some creepy old Czech guy. He had a bag full of alcohol, and regardless of what I orginally thought, or of any misconceptions, the Europeans DO abuse thier alcohol. We made a mad dash at a stop to get out of his compartment (it was a compartment train with 6 seats in a little room), and got in with 2 nice Czech women. We almost got off at the wrong station, but they helped us, and we finally made it to Prague near 11. But the women did almost get into a fist fight with the compartment of teens next to us on the train, because they were smoking. This was by far the most exciting train ride thus far... aside from the one in Switzerland where the beverage guy gave us all free beer, and we played beer pong from one side of the car to the other. Ah, us American kids are crazy. But seriously, it was the guy's last day, so he had the beverage cart, and was just giving away booze and snacks.
Also, while still at the Munich train station, we found our first bottle of World Cup Wine. I got a bottle in case we didnt see it elsewhere, but I think Ill bringing a lot home. I DEFINITLY have a case of world cup fever, and I am sooooo ready for it to start. Lets go USA. EVeryone hear talks so much smack on our country, and especially the world cup. It would be amazing to see us do well. We have the hardest pool in the tournament, but I am expecting good things.
Anyways, we paid 300 Koruny, the equivilent of like 10 dollars to get a taxi to the Hilton Prague, and checked in. I talked with my mom and dad, and Evan, and found out we got a place in Falls Church/ Arlington area in VA. Its good to hear some good news from home, because Ive been gone so long, I feel like sometimes people are starting to forget about me...
But don't fret, I would rather be out of the loop than not on this trip. And something tells me when I do get back, Ill wish I was still here. Its off to bed for me, and then a full two days in Prague (props to Bednar for having such a cool country and funny language). Hope everyone is doing well, and I'll write again soon. Have a great weekend
