After over two weeks following the course of the Dordogne we finally reached its source today at the Cascade de la Dore on the slopes of Puy de Sancy, at 1885m, the highest peak in the Auvergne which is an extinct volcanic area in the Massive Central. Puy de Sancy and neighbouring Super Besse form a fairly large ski area.

We stayed at Le Mont-Dore, the town below Puy de Sancy.
