Another glorious warm and sunny day, when we passed our final Dordogne Chateau, visited another interesting medieval town, Beaulieu-sur- Dordogne, and drove the narrow switchback roads of the upper Dordogne gorges where the river, now a lake due to several hydroelectric schemes is hemmed in amongst steep sided, forest covered hills.

We spent the night at another aire at Bort-les-Orges, which although still on the river is in the Auvergne. The aire was on the bank of the river and we noticed that its level changed from a few inches to a few feet whether or not electricity was being generated at the dam just above the town.
