Day 21: Chalons-en-Champagne - La Chaussée-sur-Marne

Het was een leuke dag vandaag, met veel afwisseling en leuke stukken pad. Totale afstand 20.7 km. We zijn weer vroeg opgestaan op de camping vanochtend en dat betekende ook dat we een lekkere temperatuur hadden. We liepen voor een deel ook langs de rivier de Marne zelf en dat was mooi. We waren al om 11:50 uur bij het hotel waar we vanavond slapen, maar helaas was dat helemaal gesloten tot 16:00 uur. Dus we hebben ons een tijdje bezig moeten houden. Konden we vast de lokale kerk (van buiten) bekijken.

It was a nice day today, with a lot of variation and interesting parts of the track. Total distance was 20.7 kms. We got up early again at the campground this morning and that meant that we also had a nice temperature. We walked for a time along the river Marne itself and that was lovely. We arrived already at 11:50 am at the hotel where we are sleeping tonight, but that was unfortunately completely closed till 4pm. So we had to keep ourselves busy for a while. That gave us a change to look at the local church (from the outside).

Koffietijd / Coffee time
En ze hadden zelfs na een km of 15 picknick tafels voor ons neergezet zodat we lekker koffie konden zetten.
And they had even after about 15 kms put down a few picnic tables for us. So that we could make ourselves a coffee.

And relax? / En luieren?
We didn’t use the lazy chairs they had put up at the same spot alongside the Marne canal.
We hebben geen gebruik gemaakt van de ligstoelen die ze op dezelfde plek langs het Marne kanaal hadden neergezet.

Op het water / On the water
Op de Marne rivier zelf kwamen we weer een andere soort reizigers tegen. Leuk om deze mensen plezier te zien hebben op het water.
On the Marne river itself we came across this other type of travellers. It was fun to see these people enjoying the water.

Marne
I found this free flowing river much more beautiful than the canals we have walked past. The water was also much clearer.
Ik vond deze vrij stromende rivier veel mooier dan de kanalen waar we langs gelopen zijn. Het water was ook veel helderder.

Kerk Saint Pierre / Church Saint Pierre
De plaatselijke kerk. Het begin van deze kerk ligt in de 11e eeuw en van wat ik heb kunnen vinden, lijkt het er op dat delen daarvan vandaag nog steeds aanwezig zijn. Maar ik heb er helaas niet heel veel informatie van kunnen vinden.
The local church. The start of this church lies in the 11th century and from what I have been able to find, parts of that church are still present today. But I haven’t been able to find too much information on this church.
