Well, if you remember what happened last blog, then you know that we went to the Renault dealer in Arles in the morning to see if they had 2 tires for our car. Well they did not. He would have to order them and would have them the next morning. So we were stuck. I called the Eurodrive phone number and told them what was happening. They talked to the service manager for a while and then he handed me back the phone. She said that Eurodrives insurance would pick up the tab for the 2 new tires and all of the labor. That was 435 euros or $565. Nice!!!!! I told her that we were stuck at the dealer and had reservations in Nice for the next 4 days. The reservation was already paid for and was non cancelable. She said she would call me back. A few minutes later my phone rang and she told me that she had reserved a car for us from Hertz at the Nimes airport, about 20km away. She had also called a cab and he would be picking us up at the dealership and taking us to the airport. Cool!!!!!
Well, the ride to the airport was 153 euros, about $190. Eurodrive pick up the tab on that, too. Yeah!!!!!! We got in our little Corsa sedan and went back to our hotel and picked up the luggage. Then we drove to Nice. It was about a 2 1/2 hour drive. We found our hotel, checked in and the manager gave us the directions to a very nice restaurant. We had dinner and then went to bed. The Megane was supposed to be ready around 2:00PM the next day. We drove the 2 1/2 hours back to he dealership and Stacy drove the Megane, while I drove the Corsa back to the airport. When we checked the car in, they found a long scratch on the passenger door. Oh, oh. It was pouring rain when we picked up the car and I didn't do a walk around. They checked their records and said the car was clean when it was dropped off last time. Crap! Well, they looked at the rental agreement from Eurodrive and they had paid for the collision damage waiver. We had to pay 180 euros up front, but will be reimbursed by Eurodrives insurance. Great!!!!
We
then drove back to Nice for the night in the Megane.
This morning we got up and drove into Monaco. It is a small principality on the southeast corner of France. Very ritzy. This is where the Grand Prix of Monaco takes place. We walked thru the tunnel where the cars would be going 180 mph. We saw lots of exotic cars there. Ferraris, Lamborghinis Porsches, Aston Martins, Maseratis and I saw my first Bugatti Veyron driving down the street twice! Eat your heart out Rob! I was in seventh heaven. They were having a boat show down at the pier. Oh my god, these are the biggest yachts I've ever seen. See the pictures. We went into the casino and looked around. We then found a car museum that houses a collection of cars owned by the Prince of Monaco. After that we drove back to our hotel. Tomorrow we will look around Nice and we leave on Sunday morning.
