La Motte Chalancon
Lovely blue lake seen en route We opted for a relatively quiet day today so spent the morning soaking up the sun on the terrasse of our unit. After a late lunch we spent some time availing ourselves of the free Wifi at the local tourist office and watching locals play a game of pétanque just outside. A drive through the mountains to La Motte Chalancon, about 35km from Nyons took us back through the wonderful Gorge de St May where the rock formations never cease to astound. Stopped briefly at St May so Chery could take some pics then headed through Rémuzat (a town we had previously visited) to La Motte Chalancon. It was yet another picture postcard village in the mountains with beautiful views of the mountains, vineyards & olive plantations below. Its local church, Notre Dame de L’Annonciation, first constructed in the 11
thCentury, was perched at the top of the mountain. It was simple inside with lovely stained glass windows and carvings.
A final drink in Rémuzat with Geoff & Chery wound up a very pleasant day after all the travelling we’d done yesterday. We sampled the drink ‘pastis’, favoured in this part of France. It is an aniseed liqueur so tasted very
