Avignon
Lovely pond in the garden of the Palais des Papes Sadly it was time for Geoff & Chery to leave for Nice, so we were up bright & early to take them to Avignon TGV station. We had some great times over the past few days which passed all too quickly.
After farewells at the station, we went back to Avignon and were lucky to find a perfect parking spot (free & unrestricted!) near the Jardins of the Palais des Papes. We enjoyed morning coffee and a walk through the gardens which had spectacular views over the Rhone and the surrounding countryside.
On our way back to Nyons we stopped at another perched village, Le Barroux, which boasted a massive chateau at the top of the village. We were going to grab a sandwich and a salad but decided to have a sit-down lunch at the only restaurant in town. Enjoyed a fabulous 3 course meal then walked around the town and the chateau to try and work some of it off! Every town we have visited over the past few weeks has been beautiful and this was no exception.
Drove back to Nyons and spent an hour or two relaxing on the terrasse. Another perfect sunny day
