A winter harvest

A crisp snow and ice window. Behind is a mountain stream
Lichen dripping from the trees
Picnic over, this was the view as we set off
At the top, this was the view from our chosen picnic spot

The view from our cable car or 'oeuf' as they call it
...and here's the space where it used to be

You might think that shed looks ramshackle....
Only the first coat.
On the way down, we could see 100 km. away, to the Montagne Noir
..while a pair of walking poles enjoy the view
Gloves and walking poles take their ease over the lunch break
In the summer, cattle graze here

Montesegur, as we started our walk
Snow and ice fields glistening in the midday sun
Even more spectacularly, the wind's formed a corniche of overhanging snow
Stunted trees form the structure for another snow sculpture
Towards the top, wind had sculpted the snow before the top layers froze to ice
And finally...out of the forest into bright sunshine
Annoyingly, I couldn't get the descant line of Good King Wenceslas out of my head...
