7 July 2019 The final day of Tallinn’s musical festival when for nearly nine hours, in a purpose built amphitheatre, a choir of over 20,000 entertained a crowd exceeding 100,000 with a range of Estonian songs. It only takes place every five years We walked to the event, planning to see the last few hours when the choir is at its largest. To begin with we were quite depressed because there seemed to be no room available to sit on the huge grass bank which overlooks the stadium. But after about 15 minutes we noticed a couple leaving and tripping over numerous legs we got there first and secured our place. Then followed a unique experience as the songs reflecting Estonian’s love of their homeland made the crowd become increasingly passionate in their support of the ... read more

06 July 2019 The final event will be the Song Festival by 20,000 Estonian singers from all over the Country and beyond. Today there was a procession by all the performers from the Old Town to the purpose built stadium where it will be held. As many of the roads were closed, we took a water taxi from our harbourside campsite to a former seaplane harbour closer to the town. A half hour walk from there took us to the route and we arrived just before the procession started. We watched for over an hour, but understood it took four hours to pass by. We were impressed by the smiles of everyone taking part In the afternoon and evening, we met the rest of the group for a guided tour of Tallin’s Old Town, followed by ... read more

05 July 2019 We started travelling towards home today as we drove 70k westwards to the capital of Estonia, Tallinn. On the way we stopped at an interesting boardwalk which went through one of the National Park’s bog area which are of special scientific interest. Our visit to Tallin is timed to coincide with the three day Estonian Dance and Song Festival which is only held every five years. This evening we went to an amazing two hour dance performance by thousands of performers held in Tallinn’s athletic stadium.... read more

Kauksin kohdallahan on 30 km pitkä hiekkaranta. Sitten jatkettiin k... read more
