Hi Friends and Family,
Today, we're going to go for long walks and take photos.
We decided to take the laptop with us so that we could later go to the hotel rather than going back to the pension.
I had thought about walking to the train station and finding out just where it was as everybody was quite elusive! There was talk that it was 5 kms away.
5kms. Pah!
After all, we had walked further than 5kms before. We even once walked 12 kms!!
It was on the coastline in Poland. We had taken off our shoes and it was a bit windy but we had our lunch and “refreshments” with us so hardly felt the pull. I also had a clap-down buggy in one hand and “The Small Young Gentleman” in the other. He was three ( 3 ) years old and it took us about 5 hours!!!!
But I digress.
On part of our walk, we found the Information Office. I had wondered where it was. I didn't know they actually had one as every hotel and shop in town were hosts of information.
I'm happy to say
that it was a good thing that we actually found this office as the Officer was most useful. He arranged a taxi for us at a give-away price of 100kc, checked and re-checked the train times and advised us to start off at another station further on as the Roky station was too small and that there was no guarantee that it would be open or have any staffing available, being a Sunday. He also wrote down our requirements in Czech and arranged for our driver ( a young Czech man ), to carry our bags onto the train and help us buy our tickets if necessary.
What great service.
“The Small Young Gentleman”continued our walks and I as far as we could before we hit the motorway.
We had decided NOT to walk to the train station because you couldn't. There was no pathway to walk onto as the villages petered out and the mountains came ever closely thus, the motorways took over.
Like aliens!
After walking for about an hour and a half, we found a bus stop and took the bus back to the fancy hotel.
Our plan was to download
the photos and texts onto my blog and my Facebook, and check my Email account for anything important whilst plying ourselves with cola and a few beers!
Today, was our last day in Roky before leaving on our journey to Germany so we needed to buy some provisions for the 9.5 hour trip. We also decided to have a warm evening meal at a nice restaurant which was a waste of money really 'cos I had such a bad headache that I couldn't eat my meal and left most of it on my plate. I probably would have done better with a hot grilled sausage!
“The Small Young Gentleman” was perfectly fine though as he had ordered pizza and a huge glass of Czech cola.
It was early to bed tonight as I was feeling a little unwell so I left the packing to the morrow.
